Parallel to this, we ran an experiment targeting the query **“Richmond SEO Agencies.”** Despite the risk of directing traffic to competitors, we authored an in-depth local guide on reputable SEO firms in Richmond. The goal was to become a source of truth for search engines and AI tools, prioritizing authoritative content over immediate commercial gain. By September 10, our content was featured prominently in Google’s featured snippets for the targeted search terms.

We also took another experimental approach that was a bit of an offensive tactic. Search results for “Richmond SEO Agencies” yielded several companies not located in Richmond, but that have been successful at optimizing their website to make it look like they are. This lack of authenticity drove me to build a mini guide within the article that listed these companies, linking to their sites, and including the explicit text that these companies are not local to Richmond. That effort aims to inform search engines and generative AI systems of the facts and drive their positions down in search results. The results of that are not definitive, but one high-ranking offender did fall in position after adding the details.

Meanwhile, we discovered around the 12th of September, that queries to ChatGPT for who you could hire to assist with this type of optimization service in Richmond yielded a list with Xponent21 mentioned as a top agency, proving that we had effectively influenced the output of ChatGPT.

## AI Learning Processes: Feedback Loops and Algorithmic Evolution

The experiment highlighted how AI models learn and rank information. AI-driven search engines prioritize user satisfaction, meaning that content must be both high-quality and relevant. By focusing on creating valuable content that met genuine user needs, we observed how AI systems favored our publications.

However, this raises questions about feedback loops. As certain information becomes more prominent due to increased references, AI systems may inadvertently reinforce specific narratives. Understanding these dynamics is crucial to responsibly shape content that informs rather than misleads.

I know it will have an impact on growing the business and my personal life. I want Weidmuller USA to be an “early adopter” for AI use in multiple ways, to be determined. I used to feel overwhelmed by the many ideas I have because there just isn’t enough time. AI has helped me push past that and dig into these ideas when my creative juices get flowing.
